Redcliffe born or Redcliffe-lured?
I am definitely Redcliffe – lured. I moved to the GC from Victoria and came up this way with friends and felt drawn to this beautiful place so I moved here in December 2015.
What does your business/job involve?
My business is called Deb’s Rainbow Connections and I offer behaviour support for families and children with autism. I am a mobile service so I go into homes to support the family with brainstorming ideas and new strategies for issues such as meal times, bedtime routines etc. Being mobile minimises anxiety that children may feel about leaving their home and meeting new people.
I also offer in home respite care during weekends and school holidays so parents/caregivers can go to appointments alone, get haircut, have time with siblings and/or partners.
Suburb you live in and why you love it?
I live in Margate in a lovely quiet area which is only 3 blocks from the beach. I feel blessed to be able to walk there every morning with my dogs.
How do you unwind?
I unwind by spending time walking at the beach especially during sunrise and sunset. I enjoy relaxing with friends and family by having a coffee or a lovely meal around the Peninsula.
Best coffee haunt/best watering hole in town.
I love going out for coffee and have several favourite spots in the Peninsula that I enjoy. I love drinking coffee in the morning just as the sunrises at Preece’s, a beautiful view and a yummy coffee. It’s also a great place to buy the very popular vanilla slice.
Another favourite place is in Margate called Soul Harvest Wholefoods. They have a variety of delicious foods catering for most people, the service is amazing and so is the coffee. When I’m looking for a coffee on the go I like to drive to The Old Corner Store on Victoria Ave and buy a delicious cappuccino through the window. We are so lucky to have so many fabulous places on the Redcliffe Peninsula.
