My name is Lea Wagner, I am 52 this year, and I am the owner & sole operator of Fabulous Physiques, a private personal training studio in Kippa-Ring. I have been a Personal Trainer for nearly 12 years now, specialising in Resistance Training, Pilates Mat & Reformer.
Redcliffe born or Redcliffe-lured?
I was lured to the Peninsula nearly 18 years ago, as I became part owner of the Newport restaurant “Miccolinis”.
What does your business/job involve?
Suffering from chronic pain for the majority of my adult life, I was finding it almost impossible to continue doing the Accounting work for which I was trained for. So, I restudied in my late 30’s to become a Personal Trainer, as I found the “good pain” of weight training was improving the quality of my life. I did a bodybuilding competition when I was 43 and won Noice Tall Qld Figure division. I have a passion for helping people reach their goals, educate them on dietary & lifestyle changes, and enrich their lives.
Personally, I suffer from an Autoimmune disease and CLL (chronic lymphocytic leukaemia) and menopause, so I am very mindful of the importance of a good diet and exercise for quality of life. I have experience with clients suffering from multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, arthritis, spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease, diabetes, post-surgery, lupus, leukaemia, pregnancy & post-baby.
Best Coffee in town/best watering hole in town?
My favourite is Cafe Diversity. Their menu is so diverse and healthy, and they do a delicious Dirty Chai.
Suburb you live in and why you love it?
I am blessed to have my studio at home in Kippa-Ring. I have owned my house here for 16 years and love the neighbourhood. People are so friendly, they love my dogs (I have 2 Cavoodles) and we chat at the fence as they walk past. And now the train line is a 3-minute walk. Amazing, I thought it would never happen.
How do you unwind?
To unwind I love to exercise. Put my headphones on and dance around my gym in between exercises. My next love would be talking my dogs for a walk, or pottering around my garden.
