Today we take 5 with local Personal Trainer and Mindset Coach – Rischelle Brooks.

Redcliffe born or Redcliffe-lured?

I was born in Mount Isa in north west Queensland. Although I lived in Redcliffe briefly when I was 19, I lived most of my early years in Mount Isa until my early 20’s, then spent 8 years living in Kingaroy and then moved to Redcliffe in 2010 with my daughters. I wanted to be somewhere quiet, close to the water and also close to my sister in Brisbane. Redcliffe was the perfect place for me, where I could enjoy a laid back lifestyle with the kids, but still have plenty of choice and opportunity with the Sunshine Coast, Brisbane and Gold Coast so easily accessible.

What does your business/job involve?

I’ve been running my own Personal Training & Coaching Business since 2011 and went from working in a gym for many years to working from Bicentennial Park, Woody Point in January 2017. I have run everything from challenges, to bootcamps, yoga and mindset work shops there. I am doing some mobile coaching and training work for businesses and organisations also, to help motivate, educate and strengthen employees and trainees to be healthy, happy, strong and work force fit. In June this year I did some some coaching at the Gaia Retreat in Byron Bay. It was an awesome experience.

I recently started working for Jenny Craig, Strathpine, as a Weight Loss Coach. This is separate from my business. It’s created a nice balance for me. I am passionate about coaching and its benefits and it’s a great business to work for. It sounds like a lot and life can be busy at times, but the work is rewarding and it’s been exciting seeing people transform as a result of working with me!

Suburb you live in and why you love it?

I live in Woody Point. I love it because the water is so close to my home and I can easily access it any time I like! I love going for afternoon walks along water and it’s no coincidence I’ve set up my business right on the waters edge at Bicentennial Park! I live just minutes from where I work!

How do you unwind?

I’m a down to earth and laid back kind of girl. I love a good book, a good movie with my partner, a walk or a workout. I also like cooking for my family on weekends. These days if I’m not walking seaside or working out at the park, I’m always pretty close to home. The kids and my partner are my number one. Family is important to me. I was an artist before I was Personal Trainer and I’d like to think I might find some more time to work on a painting or two sometime soon.

Best coffee haunt in town / best watering hole in town?

I’ve been having my caffeine hit at Charlie’s Raw Squeeze lately. It’s close, cozy and clean and I love a good health shop. I’m also partial to Sea, Salt and Vine but haven’t been there for a while. I don’t drink alcohol these days and don’t frequent pubs, so I can’t comment on that one! But when I did, Mon Komo was always nice on the terrace.
