A Caboolture woman is looking forward to retirement after her train trip took a fortunate turn, leading her to a $100,000 winning Instant Scratch-Its ticket.
Her wining $5 Crosswords Instant Scratch-Its ticket was bought at TSG & Lotto Caboolture, Shop 1, cnr Matthew Tce and James St.
“Thank you! I feel guilty because I’ve been so calm,” she said.
“It’s still surreal. Even the newsagency team member was so happy for me and I was just super calm.
“I bought the ticket the other day while on the way to an event.
“We had to catch some trains and I said if we have time on the way, we can pop into the newsagency.
“Just as well we had time. It was meant to be. That was the first day of 50-cent train fares so that was already nice as well."
When asked how she planned to use her winnings, the woman said: “I don’t want to rush into anything.
“I’m sort of easing into retirement at the moment, so it’ll just be here as a nice safety net.”
TSG & Lotto Caboolture manager Henry said the team was thrilled about the winning news.
“I was very surprised and happy when I heard we’d sold a top prize!” he said.
“I’m over the moon for the winning customer and hope this will change her life in the best way possible.
“Thank you to her and all our wonderful customers for supporting and trusting our store.
“In the past ten years of operation, we have sold various grand prizes but it had been a few years since our last one, so we were due for one.
“This store has been through many hard times over the past year and now it is back to being great again! It's a new beginning!”
In 2023, there were 144 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12.1 million in top prizes.
