Recently I was lucky enough to win a double pass to the premiere of the new Aussie movie, The BBQ at Hoyts Kippa Ring. The competition was being run by our very own local radio station 99.7 Bridge FM, thanks guys!
The BBQ is a Victorian-made family comedy starring Shane Jacobson as BBQ-fanatic, Dazza Cook (supposedly related to ‘Captain Cook’), and supported by an ensemble of local personalities including the talented Magda Szubanski and My Kitchen Rules’ own Manu Feildel.
Dazza has a passion for barbecuing, but when he accidentally gives his guests food poisoning at his regular Saturday BBQ, Dazza’s reputation and dignity are on the line. Its a film all about the underdog, the talented cast do a fantastic job keeping you entertained from start to finish. There’s even a mention of The Kerrigans (referring to The family in the Aussie movie, The Castle) living just down the road.
Dazza teams up with a Scottish chef known simply as THE BUTCHER. Together they enter an international barbecue competition, pitting Dazza’s homespun recipes against the world’s best BBQ chefs. Beware – this isn’t one to watch if you’re already feeling peckish, as the steaks ? look amazing!! During the movie my 11 yr old son Alex commented that he now ‘needed to eat a steak’.
The BBQ gets 3/5 ?
