For over 40 years, I ran large multi-franchise new car dealerships. The business goal of the dealerships was to always make as much profit on every car as they could.

At Car Business, it’s my job to get the price of that new car down as far as I can. To do that, I tender the vehicle specification out to as many as 12 franchise dealers. It’s really no different to what large companies (think Coca- Cola, Woolworths) and Governments (Moreton Bay Council, Queensland Government, Federal Government) do to get the best offers from manufacturers and dealers.
Each dealer only gets 1 opportunity – I don’t play favourites unless my customer insists on buying locally.
And the difference between the highest and lowest can be thousands of dollars.
Surely that difference is better in your pocket than the dealers. And the same applies to finance. Dealers will generally charge 3-4% about the base rate. My contacts in the finance broker industry will generally tender at the lowest possible rate, saving more money for you.
