Redcliffe authors Peter and Jane Knowles share very special moments in their first co-authored book titled Bush Baby.

Settling into retirement at Kippa-Ring 20 years ago, the husband-and-wife duo decided to write a special fiction book.

“The story is a fictional story about our daughter Imogen who was born at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s hospital, and we lived 1600kms at Winton on a sheep property,” Jane says.

“We commenced writing rhymes on the way home to help pass the time. These rhymes are the basis of the book.

“(Our favourite part about the writing process) was the fact that it tells a story, and it has a little humour.”

Jane and Peter recently hosted a book launch on March 21 by the water on the Redcliffe Parade to celebrate the publishing of the book.

“We have had two launches so far and will have a third at the Outback Writers festival in June this year,” Jane says.

“The two we have had were very successful and I sold a lot of books. The book was illustrated by Monica Batiste, a local artist, yoga teacher and author herself.”

While this is Jane’s first time publishing a book, she doesn’t want it to be her last.

“This is the first book I have participated in; I do have a few stories I would like to publish in the future,” she says.

“Not only was my husband Peter a Grazier, but a photographer who has published several books.”
