The Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital appeal raised more than $200,000, yesterday, which will allow the hospital to refurbish its palliative care unit and continue to build its research program.

The annual appeal, which is a partnership between the RBWH Foundation and Redcliffe Hospital, culminated in Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day yesterday which raised $208,303.

RBWH Foundation CEO Simone Garske thanked the City of Moreton Bay community for its support which ensured Giving Day reached its target.

“Your generosity has doubled the difference at Redcliffe Hospital to advance life-changing patient care and health research, touching on the lives of thousands of patients, now and into the future,” she says.

“Raise it for Redcliffe Hospital can now start work refurbishing visiting areas within the Palliative Care Unit, adding a touch of home, and enhancing care for about 600 patients and their loved ones every year.

“Redcliffe Hospital can also continue building its cutting-edge research program, which has national implications for dementia care, new interventions to reduce modifiable risk factors in patients undergoing elective surgery, and 3D modelling of prostate tumours for patients undergoing treatment.

“Not only does your support brighten the day of our patients but your funding of research will ensure Redcliffe Hospital can attract some of Australia’s best clinicians as it continues to expand.”

Community events were held in the lead-up to Redcliffe Hospital Giving Day, and on the day, including the official launch and a fun day at community radio station 99.7 Bridge FM.
