Generous gesture by $250,000 winner

A woman who won $250,000 with an Instant Scratch-Its ticket bought in Dayboro, has decided to surprise her sister with a new car.

The winner, from Zillmere, told The Lott she initially forgot to scratch her $10 tickets from Dayboro Valley IGA, in Heathwood St.

But, after discovering her windfall, she said: “It’s full on! I’m still struggling to wrap my head around it!

“I bought them to scratch with my adult son, but then they sat in my car for two days.

When we scratched them, we both looked at each other in complete shock. I rang my sister and said, ‘Is this real?’

“She laughed and said ‘You’re the one looking at it! You tell me.’

“I actually bought her a car with part of the winnings. I’m so happy for her! Now she can drop her kids to school.

“For myself, I’ve already been on a nice holiday! It was like heaven. Then the rest, I’ll put in the bank.

“I couldn’t sleep at all the night I found out. I started looking at other winners and their stories to pass the time. Thank you so much!”

The Dayboro Valley IGA team manager said staff were over the moon for their winning customer and wished her all the best with her prize.

In 2023, there were 144 Instant Scratch-Its top prize winners across The Lott’s jurisdictions who collectively took home more than $12.1 million in top prizes.
