Go behind-the-scenes at major dam
Seqwater is holding two days of tours at North Pine Dam and Water Treatment Plant, during this month's school holidays.
On April 11 and 12 visitors can see how gated dams work or how raw water is transformed into clean, safe drinking water?
Three tours will be held each day at 9am, 11.30am and 2pm. Places are limited and must be booked in advance. Details below.
Built in 1976, North Pine Dam plays a crucial role in both water storage and flood mitigation.
With its five massive steel gates, the dam can release water in a controlled way during heavy rainfall, helping to protect surrounding communities.
Members of our North Pine Dam Improvement Project team will also be onsite to answer questions you may have about the upcoming works.
Tours will operate from the Admin Building Shelter Area, corner Byrnes Road and Protheroe Road, Joyner, QLD 4500.
Those aged six years and over can attend. Anyone aged six to 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Each tour will go for approximately two hours and involve around 1-2km of walking - this includes walking across the dam wall to the Water Treatment Plant.
