Get ready for musical magic in June as we turn up the volume at Council’s galleries, libraries, museums and across the city with a month-long celebration of free live music, jam sessions, open mics and musicmaking experiences for all.

No matter where you live in the City of Moreton Bay, there will be music on offer to suit every taste, and the best part is it’s totally free!

Let’s make music

Make Music Month – make some noise, Moreton Bay

The program kicks off on Saturday, June 1 at Narangba Community Hall with Let’s Make Music - a vibrant day featuring an ABBA singalong, open mic for under-18s and a big band show.

Making music is for everyone, so get your groove on with a body percussion session, a freestyle rap taster, and improvise on The Mostly Mellifluous Melodium - a giant music-making installation.

Food truck and drinks are available throughout the day, which runs from 10am-4pm.

Mark your map for the Live Music Trail

Are you ready to make music?

Join people from 120 countries and more than 1000 cities around the globe on International Make Music Day - Friday, June 21 – and don’t miss a beat to sign up to one of six jam sessions around Moreton Bay.

Each session has a different flavour so choose the best fit for you whether that be ukulele and singing at Bribie and Caboolture, jazz and blues at Redcliffe, all-abilities jam at the library, under-18s at North Lakes, or quirky everyday music objects at Strathpine.

No musical experience is necessary, and friendly facilitators will create a fabulous atmosphere for you to switch on your rhythm and melody and jam it out in an inclusive environment.

Gather friends and family, bring your neighbours, and join us to create musical memories.

Follow the notes, discover new venues, and let the music be your guide as you explore Moreton Bay

with music in June.

The Mostly Mellifluous Melodium

A previously undiscovered material in the universe, Mugic, has been found in the City of Moreton Bay.

From the little we know so far, Mugic is a curious hybrid of music and magic which channels the musical possibility in an object or person.

To better understand Mugic, scientists and musicians have built an instrument called “The Mostly Mellifluous Melodium”.

Scientists say Mugic can only be released when coaxed into the world through curiosity, storytelling, and play.

The Melodium will be popping up throughout Make Music Month and welcomes everyone to be part of its Mugic-Making experiments.
