Major funding has been announced for Moreton Bay's schools, roads, hospitals and infrastructure in today’s Queensland Budget 2024-25.

Among the biggest single items is more than $185 million for the new Woodford Youth Detention Centre and $87 million for Redcliffe Hospital expansion.

Bruce Highway upgrades include the State’s $80 million towards $290 million needed for Stage 1 which will include on and off ramps at Dohles Rocks Rd.

Almost half the $75.2 million cost of upgrades to the Strathpine-Samford Rd, Eatons Crossing Rd and Mount Samson Rd intersection is in today’s budget.

Griffin State School, Bray Park State School and Deception Bay State High School have funding for new buildings and learning spaces.

There is also $7 million to accelerate conservation of koalas in South-East Queensland and $25.9 million for recruitment of new police officers.

State Budget funding for City of Moreton Bay:

  • $185.1 million in 2024-25 out of $627.6 million for the new 80-bed Woodford Youth Detention Centre. Will create of around 600 jobs in next three years.
  • Redcliffe Hospital expansion - $87 million out of $1.148 billion for a new clinical services building, including ambulatory care services and refurbishing existing hospital.
  • Bruce Highway (Brisbane to Gympie) - $80.9 million out of $290 million for first stage of Dohles Rocks Rd to Anzac Ave upgrades.
  • Caboolture West catalytic water supply and sewerage infrastructure - $40.7 million for essential water and sewerage infrastructure to help deliver new land for housing in Caboolture West.
  • $32.3 million out of $75.2 million to improve safety on Strathpine-Samford Rd, Eatons Crossing Rd and Mount Samson Rd intersection.
  • $31.7 million out of $367.7 million for Caboolture Hospital Redevelopment Stage 1, modernising and expanding facilities. Additional 130 beds and refurbishment of critical clinical support services. 
  • $30 million out of $948 million for upgrading the Bruce Highway between the Gateway Motorway and Dohles Rocks Rd and upgrading the Gympie Arterial Rd between Strathpine Rd and Gateway Motorway (stage 1).
  • $19.8 million out of $26.7 million for additional learning spaces in Moreton Bay.
  • Griffin State School - $18.4 million out of $25 million for a new three-storey learning centre with six learning spaces, a music rehearsal and practice space, open learning areas, amenities and a lift.
  • Bray Park State High School - $16.3 million out of $22.4 million for a new building for additional learning spaces.
  • Caboolture Watchhouse Hub - $15.1 million out of $45.4 million to "operationalise" the Caboolture Watchhouse Hub for young people.
  • North Pine Dam improvement and strengthening projects - $14.3 million for planning and investigatory works for dam to comply with dam safety standards.
  • Disaster recovery and reconstruction - $11.9 million for recovery projects for local government assets impacted between 2020-2024 in Moreton Bay region.
  • $7.4 million out of $11.1 million for a 4 megawatt/8 megawatt-hour battery to store excess solar PV generated by Bribie's 5000 solar customers.
  • $5.5 million out of $22.7 million for Energy Queensland to build a new substation at Petrie to support a safe and reliable electricity network.
  • Deception Bay State High School - $4.9 million out of $11.8 million for a new building for additional learning spaces.
  • $2.4 million out of $2.9 million for a purpose-built Bribie Island Neighbourhood Centre.
  • $2.4 million out of $6.7 million to complete the replacement of Dayboro police facility.
  • Woodfordia - $1 million out of $4 million to grow the sustainability of the festival, boost cultural tourism and generate economic benefits.
  • $180,852 out of $291,696 for amenities and changerooms and install an access path to support football at Peninsula Power Football Club.

Cost-of-living relief for all Queenslanders:

  • $1300 electricity bill support for all Queensland households from July 2024, with a higher $1672 rebate for vulnerable households
  • 20 per cent reduction in vehicle registration fees for 12 months
  • 50 cents per trip across all Translink public transport services from August 5, 2024 for 6 months
  • Half-price Airtrain tickets from August 5, 2024 for 6 months
  • $200 FairPlay vouchers for sport and active recreation activities for up to 200,000 Queensland children
  • $15 million for the School and Community Food Relief to provide healthy food for children during school days
  • Food, emergency and financial relief to support Queensland families in need.
