Multiple roads closed by floodwaters

Heavy rain continues to fall across the Moreton Bay region causing flash flooding and the closure of 24 roads.

Rainfall totals from 9am yesterday to 9am today include 55mm at Redcliffe, 52mm at Rothwell, 61mm at Kallangur, 63mm at Murrumba Downs, 51mm at Bribie Island, 71mm at Mt Nebo, 46mm at Samford, 40mm at Narangba and 42mm at Caboolture.

The torrential rain is also impacting dams across South-East Queensland with many spilling or having controlled releases of water.

North Pine dam, operating to a reduced capacity of 68 per cent during upgrades work, started water releases at midnight on Wednesday with Youngs Crossing Rd currently closed.

Lake Kurwongbah is now at 103.7 per cent capacity and spilling while Somerset Dam is at 80.1 per cent and using flood storage capacity.

Across all SEQ Water dams, the combined water storage capacity is currently 80.2 per cent, up 0.8 per cent in the last seven days.

The biggest, Wivenhoe, is at 75.1 per cent capacity and taking inflows from Somerset Dam.

Motorists are being urged to obey all road closure signage, regardless of whether water has receded.

Wamuran: Basin Road, flooded at R Sampson Road

Dayboro: Glover Road, flooded at Juffs Road West

Brendale: Leitchs Road Pedestrian Bridge, flooded at South Pine River

Highvale: Goat Track, landslip (flood damage)

Cedar Creek: Cedar Creek Road, flooded at Cedar Creek

Cedar Creek: Gordons Road, flooded at lower crossing

Cedar Creek: Gordons Road, flooded at upper crossing 

Rocksberg: Caboolture River Road, flooded at Five Pound Crossing

Yugar: Hansen Road, flooded past Jennifer Close

Highvale: Ryder Road, flooded at Blue Gum Court

Mango Hill: Chermside Road, flooded between John Street and Kinsellas Road West

Elimbah: Old Gympie Road, flooded at Six Mile Creek

Rocksberg: Old North Road, flooded at Zillmans Crossing

Cedar Creek: Curtis Road

Dayboro: Lees Crossing Road, flooded at upper crossing

Kobble Creek: Kobble Creek Road, flooded at Pringles Road

Strathpine: Mott Street

Moodlu: Williams Road, flooded at Lagoon Creek

Petrie: Youngs Crossing Road , flooded at North Pine River
