Redcliffe Musical Theatre and ROAR Academy performers have been busy rehearsing for their upcoming production, which will be performed across eight huge shows at the Redcliffe Entertainment Centre this weekend.

The cast has been rehearsing for the last 12 weeks to prepare for Howard Lindsay and Russell Crouse’s The Sound of Music.

Director Madeleine Johns says audiences can expect a production that stays true to the era and the original story.

"Audiences can expect a beautiful and authentic take on this classic musical. A lot of time and thought has gone into the design of the set, costumes and props, to recreate an authentic backdrop for the actors,” Madeleine says.

"Audiences will get to hear all their favourite songs, complete with a gorgeous 16-piece orchestra, such as Do-Re-Mi, Favourite Things, Lonely Goatherd, Edelweiss, the show-stopping Climb Every Mountain, and of course The Sound of Music.”

Madeleine says it has been amazing to witness the dedication of the cast and crew over the past 12 weeks.

“I am extremely thankful to the cast and crew for their dedication and commitment to this production. It has been 12 weeks of learning and hard work to bring this show to life, but everyone has been committed to their roles and to the vision that I have had for the show,” Madeleine says.

“The production team have been truly amazing and supportive… It takes a whole village to create a beautiful musical - and I am truly thankful for my village.

“I am really excited to show audiences how relevant and engaging a beautiful classical musical like The Sound of Music can still be - even in our fast-paced current world.

“From a personal level, it's wonderful to be able to offer so many roles to young performers on stage in this production. The young Von Trapp family members are the real stars of this production and I'm sure you will love their amazing talent on stage in these roles.”

The Redcliffe Musical Theatre’s production of The Sound of Music will be held on the following days:

Friday, September 29 at 7.30pm, Saturday, September 30 at 2pm and 7pm and Sunday, October 1 at 2pm.

Friday, October 6 at 7.30pm, Saturday, October 7 at 2pm and 7.30pm and Sunday, October 8 at 2pm.

All shows will be held at the Redcliffe Entertainment Centre at Downs St, Redcliffe.
